  • Print Marketing Food for Thought

Print Media is still important for Marketing

As the digital age moves on, it is difficult to believe print media still has a place, but it does.  With twitters, blogs, websites and all sorts of apps available you may think electronic marketing alone is sufficient to grow a business. The truth remains, print media is part of a balanced marketing approach, when used with the new electronic media.

    Here is why:

    -          Print is Portable – Paper can be taken any where a tablet, phone or laptop can go, and more.

    -          Print is environmentally friendly - Print does not require batteries or a charger. It is made from recycled paper and wood. Almost all paper used today is made from managed forests, and is a renewable resource. Plastics and rare earth elements used to make electronic devices are not renewable and difficult to recycle. Some have mercury and heavy metals, which are environmentally hazardous.

    -          Print is a preferred format – Often people prefer to read printed paper.  It is easier on the eyes, and faster to reference than electronic media.

    -          Print is very visible – Magazines, flyers, books, etc. stay visible:  on a desk, on a table, in the office, everywhere!

    -          Print is easy to access -  No passwords are required to read print. No logins, or possible hacked accounts, will not crash and can operate in damp environments.

    -          Print is timeless – Printed materials last for a very long time, and often remain in the consumers sight for extended periods. A window on a computer is generally clicked off within seconds after viewing.

    -          Print is Professional – Many view a print published article or book to be more credible than a web page.

    -          Print is Advertising – While there are many different methods, print media is still widely used in advertising. Brochures, flyers, pamphlets, catalogues, and posters are just a few examples. Most importantly, they exist in places where electronic media cannot.

While we are surrounded by a surge of electronic media, which is very effective and has been embraced, print media has proven to be very effective as part of a balanced marketing campaign. Large corporations use print media as a large piece of their marketing strategy.   It works !
